Celebrity Role Model

            If I were to pick a celebrity I would pick Oprah Winfrey.  While many celebrities are portrayed in a negative light, she has always been a positive role model for millions of people.  She has touched many people with her show and the people she chooses to interview.  While she is a billionaire and lives a very privileged and wealthy life, she has donated millions of dollars to charity and the betterment of others.  Her show is focused on self-improvement and spirituality, which inspires people to make a difference in the world and be a better human being.  This alone makes her an admirable celebrity.  In addition, she is a very generous person.  She gives countless gifts to her audience and people in need.  This “giving back to the world” is what every celebrity should embrace, in my opinion.  If celebrities were to do so, they would not only feel fulfilled, but branch away from that greedy lifestyle they have been given. 

            In another light, she has shown me that an individual can be successful and powerful without letting the media and “nice things” get to them.  I think many celebrities are given everything and forget that every one is a human being just like them.  When the media watches your every move and mistake it is difficult to live a life of freedom.  Throughout the past decade, Oprah has stayed wise and mature about her power and influence on the world and has undoubtedly become an icon to millions of people.  But, her Angel Network is the most inspiring to me.  With this network she raises money to give to countless charities worldwide.  Her generosity, devotion to helping people better themselves, her ability to avoid the downfalls of being a celebrity and her kindness makes her the icon she is today.

I think Oprah was a great choice of celebrity, I thought of her myself when deciding on a good celebrity. I love how you start, because it is so true how she has touched many people with her show and who she is. She does great things to help others around her and her studio audience. She has interesting people on her show, that also teach good messages and share amazing stories. It is true, while Oprah is very wealthy she always remembers to spread her money with others. She knows who are people in need and helps all she can. That is why she is always in the media for her good and never her bad.
I agree with the ending of the first paragraph alot! Oprah gives so much, to not only people in need, but her fans in the audience as well. This shows how she "uses her powers for good". You are right when you say, if more celebrities did this "sharing of wealth", then they would be better off. If they were not as focused on the material for themselves in life, then they would not get caught up in it all.
Oprah did not let her power and wealth get to her, but rather she used it to fuel a better cause, helping others. This is a great quality for a celebrity and more should have it. I love the final part of your post. I think that her network dedicated to helping others (charities) is so nice! It is great to do things for others. It is rewarding and special, and if more celebrities did this, we would have a better world. Generations look up to celebrities and if they don't act the correct way, the generation will not either.

I like who you’ve picked for your celebrity for many reasons. Besides her great acts of kindness and selflessness, with the fact that she is putting her show to an end within the upcoming year, this is a good time to note her for her deeds. Oprah is definitely a role model for all people, young, old, black, white, men, or women. Her caring yet strong attitude and opinions towards today’s world are those of substance. Oprah is firm in her beliefs. She has single handedly changed the world in more ways than one. Like you said, her show is about self-improvement and spirituality which gives people the guidance they may be seeking. Both with and without knowing it, Oprah has changed the lives of many. Obviously, Oprah is known for her creation of the schools in other countries, giving opportunities to young women to be the best they can be. Her “giving back to the world”, as you said, is absolutely what every celebrity should embrace. Oprah has also attempted to keep her personal life public yet private at the same time. She has succeeded in letting the world in on her relationship with boyfriend, Steadman but also keeping their matters to themselves. Unlike most celebrities, the media does not print scandalous news about Oprah. Maybe it is because she does not partake in risky matters or maybe she is just admirable for being able to juggle her personal and public life. Overall, Oprah is admirable for her selfless personality, her acts of giving back to the world, and her strong composure. She is able to be a counselor to those in need, funny, giving, and still remain grounded though she is considered one of the richest and most powerful women in the world. If there were more people like her in this crazy world, we would live in a much better place.
